Day 01 :

Addis Ababa to Lake Awassa

Drive south to Lake Awassa, birding along the way at good Rift Valley stopover points. Afternoon birding walk around the lakeshore and fish market. Overnight in Awassa.

Day 02 :

Lake Awassa to Bale Mountains (Dinsho)

Continue south to Dinsho, the headquarters of Bale Mountains National Park, birding en route. Afternoon walk around Dinsho, home to several endemic species and the Mountain Nyala antelope. Overnight near Dinsho.

Day 03 :

Sanetti Plateau Birding

Full day birding on the high-altitude Sanetti Plateau, searching for species such as the Rouget's rail and blue-winged goose, alongside a good chance of spotting the endangered Ethiopian wolf. Overnight camping on the plateau.

Day 04 :

Descent to Harenna Forest

Trek down into the lush Harenna Forest, home to forest specialist birds as well as colobus monkeys. Overnight camping in the forest.

Day 05 :

Harenna Forest Birding

Full day birding within the Harenna Forest, one of the richest and least explored birding areas in Ethiopia. Overnight in the forest area.

Day 06 :

Return to Addis Ababa

Final morning of birding before the drive or flight back to Addis Ababa, wrapping up an unforgettable birding adventure.
